Very few things in life let you have your cake and eat it too. Almost every decision you make daily involves weighing pros and cons and sacrificing one thing for another. Should you go to the gym and get some exercise or go home early and spend more time with your family? Do you want tasty pizza for lunch or a healthy salad? Paper or plastic.
Luckily, when it comes to making coffee at home, there is an option that takes the sting out of choosing and gives you the best of both worlds. Dual coffee makers are combo coffee machines that combine a single-serve brewer with a higher capacity drip machine to give you the freedom to make large batches of coffee or smaller cups of coffee, whatever you need in the moment.
In this article, we’re going to review our 10 favorite dual coffee makers and then give you an in-depth buying guide covering what to look for when shopping for a dual coffee maker, and answer some frequently asked questions about them. Let’s get started!

The Best Dual Coffee Maker Options
1. Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Trio Coffee Maker

- 2 SEPARATE EASY-FILL WATER RESERVOIRS: Each brewing side on this Hamilton Beach coffee maker has its own water reservoir that’s easy to fill and features a water window, so you always know exactly...
Topping the list, we have the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Coffee Maker. There is a lot to love about the FlexBrew, but let’s start with the basics. As a dual coffee maker, the FlexBrew has two completely separate sections for brewing single cups and larger pots of coffee, with separate water reservoirs. We like this design because it makes it easy to keep tabs on how much water you have in each reservoir and only add as much as you need.
The single-serve side takes K-cup pods or your favorite ground coffee in the included reusable pod. This is a great addition and makes the FlexBrew one of the most versatile dual coffee makers available. We love having the ability to choose between convenient, premade K-cups and our own ground coffee.
When you want to make a larger batch of coffee, you can use the 12-cup brew side, which works exactly like a regular standalone drip coffee maker. You can program the large batch side to start brewing whenever you like, making it easy to wake up to a fresh pot of coffee. There is also a warming plate that keeps your coffee hot for up to two hours and an auto-pause feature that lets you sneak a cup mid-brew.
The FlexBrew coffee maker is also very affordable, which unfortunately brings us to the only thing we didn’t like about it: the build quality. The parts are all cheap plastic, and the buttons don’t always press convincingly. We haven’t had any specific problems, but we’re concerned about the long term durability.
Pros
- Brew with K-cups or ground coffee
- Make single cups or up to 12-cup batches
- Wake up timer
- Warming plate
- Sneak-a-cup feature
Cons
- Parts feel cheap
- Durability may be an issue
2. Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed System
- COLD BREW: Brew tea or coffee at a lower temperature over ice for smooth, naturally sweet flavor in 10 to 15 minutes..BPA Free : Yes. Cord Length : 2.5 ft
- SEPARATE BASKETS: Keep flavors separate with different baskets for brewing coffee and loose or bagged tea.
- SMART BASKET RECOGNITION: System recognizes what's in the basket and automatically displays coffee or tea options.
- 6 BREW SIZES: Brew anything from a single cup to an XL cup, travel size, XL travel size, and half or full carafe with your coffee maker.
- 5 BREW STYLES: Choose your style with Classic, Rich, Over Ice, Cold Brew, or Specialty.
- TEA TYPES: Select your tea type, and the system will know the right temperature and number of steps needed.
- KEEPS IT HOT: The 50 oz. (10-Cup) Thermal Carafe is double-walled to keep your coffee and tea hot for up to 2 hours. No warming plate required.
The Ninja Hot and Cold Brewed System is the total coffee package that lives up to the name “system.” This machine isn’t a coffee maker as much as it is an entire coffee shop’s worth of equipment in a single package. It brews six different size batches, evenly spaced from one cup up to a full 10-cup carafe giving you the most flexibility of any dual coffee maker.
It also has five brew styles to choose from, including regular, rich, and a fancy over ice option. We haven’t seen this option in many other coffee makers, and it’s a fan favorite in the summer. Choosing over ice slows down the brew time and lowers the temperature, so you get a smooth, strong cup of coffee even though you’re brewing over ice. Without this option, iced coffee comes out weak and watery. The other settings are also excellent, especially specialty mode, which you can use to make espresso-style drinks. It also has a handy built-in frother for making lattes and cappuccinos.
One of the only drawbacks of the Ninja is the price. It’s quite expensive even after you consider all the fancy bells and whistles it comes with. If you like having many options and don’t mind spending more, it’s a great choice, but if you prefer to keep things simple, it might not be the right choice for you.
Pros
- 6 brew sizes from 1 to 12 cups
- 5 brew styles including a fantastic iced mode
- Built-in frother
Cons
- On the expensive side
- Doesn’t take K-cups
3. Cuisinart SS-20 Coffee Center
- Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of...
- SUPERIOR FUNCTIONALITY: Our single-serve brewer has a 40oz removable water reservoir that complements its charcoal water filter and removable drip tray for travel mugs–enjoy energy save mode when...
- CARAFE BREWER: Serve up to 10 cups of coffee at once with our thermal carafe coffee maker featuring a stainless-steel handle and body with fully automatic features–24-hour brew start, self-clean,...
The Cuisinart SS-20 Coffee Center is an almost perfect blend of complexity and simplicity. That might sound contradictory but let us explain. The SS-20 has everything you could want in a tidy package that is easy to understand and use. Some dual coffee makers come with many useful features but are difficult to use because of a clunky interface. Cuisinart has managed to pack a ton of customizability into the SS-20 without it feeling overwhelming.
The single-serve half of the Cuisinart SS-20 can make small 6-ounce cups but also has settings for 8, 10, and 12 ounces. You can use K-cups or fill the included reusable filter with preground coffee.
On the other side, you have a full automatic drip machine capable of making up to 10 cups at a time. It comes with a stainless steel 10 cup thermal carafe that’s easy to clean and comfortable to hold. This half of the Cuisinart SS-20 has a slew of features, including a brew start timer and a strength toggle that lets you make bolder coffee.
There are two main downsides to the Cuisinart SS-20. First, it’s pricey. Whether or not the convenience and elegance are worth the extra money depends on your coffee budget. If you can spare the extra cash, you’ll get a seamless, satisfying coffee brewing experience. The second problem is that there is only a single 40-ounce reservoir. It’s not a huge problem, but we prefer having the two halves of our dual coffee maker be entirely independent.
Pros
- The single-cup side make 6,8,10, or 12 ounces
- Compatible with K-cups
- Includes a reusable filter
- Built-in a brew timer and strength toggle
- Easy to use
Cons
- Very expensive
- One combined water reservoir
4. Keurig K-Duo Plus Coffee Maker
- BREW A CUP AND A CARAFE: Use both ground coffee and K-Cup pods.
- STRONG BREW: Brew a stronger, more intense single cup and carafe.
- MULTIPLE BREW SIZES: Brew a 6, 8, 10, or 12-cup carafe and a 6, 8, 10, or 12 oz. cup.
- MULTI-POSITION 60 oz. WATER RESERVOIR: Can be positioned to the right, left, or along the back of the brewer to optimize counter space.
Keurig has built their brand on a foundation of simplicity and convenience, and the K-Duo Plus continues that trend. The K-duo has all the features we’ve come to expect in dual coffee makers. It can make single cups from 6 to 12 ounces, and larger pots from 6 to 12 cups, and it has an auto-brew timer in the carafe brewing mode. It also has a brew strength setting and comes with a reusable pod-style filter.
Where the K-Duo stands out from the crowd is its size. Keurig has managed to pack all the functionality of a solid dual coffee maker into a surprisingly compact footprint. The K-Duo is much smaller than the other coffee makers on this list and fits snugly on our countertop. In a stroke of engineering genius, Keurig built the water reservoir on a swivel, making it easy to move the reservoir wherever is most convenient for you.
The K-Duo is on the expensive side but not excessively so. We like the compact, easy-to-use design enough that we’re willing to splurge a little bit. If you want a dual coffee maker that just works and will fit almost anywhere, the Keurig K-Duo is a great choice. It doesn’t have as many cool features as some of the other machines, so if you’re a fan of fancy brew modes and tons of options, you should pass on this one.
Pros
- Compact design fits almost anywhere
- Make 6, 8, 10, or 12-ounce cups
- Brew 6, 8, 10, or 12-cup carafes
Cons
- A bit expensive
- Lacks some features compared to other coffee makers
5. De’Longhi All-in-One Combination Maker & Espresso Machine
- 1 machine does it all: 1 side makes authentic 15-bar espresso, cappuccino and latte, while the other side brews exceptionally delicious coffee.
- Flavor savor brew system: De’longhi’s patented coffee brewing system extracts maximum flavor and aroma for a robust coffee experience.
- Front-loading system: Both water and coffee reservoirs are conveniently located with frontal access for drip coffee – no need to move the machine.
- Your foam, your way: The advanced cappuccino system mixes steam and milk to create a rich, creamy froth for evenly textured drinks – just the way you like them.
- Filtered water for a better brew: The advanced active carbon filter keeps water fresh and free of impurities for better-tasting brewed coffee.
Next up, we have the De’Longhi BCO430BM All-In-One coffee maker. This machine is a bit different than the other dual coffee makers we’ve reviewed so far. It’s not a combination of a pod-style brewer and an automatic drip coffee maker. Instead, it is one part espresso machine and one part regular coffee maker.
The regular coffee maker side comes with a 10 cup glass carafe but doesn’t have any special settings or options to choose from, which is slightly disappointing compared to the other coffee makers on this list. The focus is clearly on the espresso side, which is either a benefit or a drawback, depending on what you’re looking for.
If you want an espresso machine that can also make coffee, the De’Longhi is a good option. It has a 15-bar pump that can make genuine espresso with a healthy layer of crema and includes a milk frother for making cappuccinos, lattes, and macchiatos.
If you are a big espresso fan looking for a machine that can occasionally make large pots of coffee when you have guests, the BCO430BM is a great option. Unfortunately, this dual coffee maker’s coffee side is a bit lacking and is underwhelming compared to the wealth of features and options other brands have. Still, it makes excellent espresso and comes with a built-in frother, which more than makes up for the missing features if you make espresso more often than regular drip coffee.
Pros
- 15-bar pump makes authentic espresso
- Built-in milk frother
- Coffee side can make up to 10 cups at a time
Cons
- Very expensive
- There aren’t any options on the coffee side
6. Cuisinart 12-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker
- Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of...
This offering is slightly different from the Cuisinart SS-20, even though the same brand makes it. The Cuisinart CHW -12P1 is a dual coffee maker…kind of. It comes with a 12 cup glass carafe and has a brew timer, auto-pause feature, and variable temperature control. Unfortunately, instead of a single cup pod-style brewer, the other half of the machine is just a hot water dispenser.
If you’re looking for a combination of a K-cup brewer and a regular drip coffee maker, this coffee machine isn’t for you. However, if you’re a tea fan or regularly make hot chocolate, having a dedicated hot water station is very convenient. One of the best features is the ability to run both the coffee maker and the hot water dispenser simultaneously, meaning you can brew your coffee while you make oatmeal for breakfast. We really like this feature, although we think it is slightly less useful for hardcore coffee fans than a single-cup pod brewer.
The bottom line is that the CHW-12P1 is a great machine for people that want a general-purpose hot beverage center rather than a solely coffee-focused machine. But if you don’t need a one-cup pod brewer, the CHW-12P1 is an excellent, very affordable option.
Pros
- Extremely affordable
- 12 cup brewing capacity
- Adjustable water temperature
Cons
- Doesn’t have a dedicated one-cup brewer
7. Hamilton Beach 2-Way Brewer Coffee Maker
- 5 WAYS TO BREW: SINGLE CUP OR FULL POT. Brew a single-serve cup or a full coffee pot with your favorite ground coffee. Whichever way you brew, this programmable coffee maker makes it easy to do both.
- SIMPLE SINGLE-SERVE BREWING: With the included mesh scoop, adding your favorite ground coffee to the coffee maker couldn’t be easier: just scoop, place and brew. (Not compatible with K-Cup* pods.)
- ECO-FRIENDLY AND EASY ON YOUR WALLET. For fresh flavor and less waste, skip the plastic pods. Since this Hamilton Beach coffee maker doesn't use K-Cup* pods, there's less to buy and throw away.
- PROGRAMMABLE WITH MULTIPLE BREW SETTINGS: Choose whether to make a single cup or full pot, select bold or regular brew strength options, and program the coffee maker up to 24 hours in advance for...
- GET YOUR FIRST CUP FAST WITH AUTO PAUSE & POUR: Pour yourself a quick cup as coffee brews with Auto Pause & Pour — no need to wait until the whole pot has finished brewing.
Next, we have another Hamilton Beach dual brew coffee maker. Unlike the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew, this two-way coffee maker focuses on bringing the dual coffee maker design to customers on a tight budget. This coffee machine is much cheaper than the FlexBrew, but it still has many features we like to see in a dual brew coffee machine.
It comes with a 12-cup glass carafe, a programmable wake-up timer, and a convenient sneak-a-cup feature. Despite the low price, it also has nice quality of life features like a warming hot plate and strength selector button.
Like the FlexBrew, this coffee machine doesn’t feel durable because of the cheap plastic components and sometimes finicky buttons. Another drawback to this coffee maker is that the single-cup side isn’t compatible with K-cups. While it would be nice to have the option of using K-cups, we can’t complain too much because of how affordable it is.
If you’re on a tight budget, this is the dual coffee maker for you. It doesn’t scrimp on features, and even though it doesn’t take K-cups, it’s a capable brewer at an unbeatable price.
Pros
- Unparalleled low price
- 12 cup glass carafe
- Brew timer lets you wake up to freshly brewed coffee
Cons
- Incompatible with K-cups
- Feels cheap
8. CucinaPro Double Coffee Brewer Station
- Double Coffee Maker- Brews two 12 cup pots
- Dual Coffee Brewer- Includes 2 permanent filters and coffee scoops
- Spring out coffee filter basket for easy refilling and cleaning
- Double Coffee Brew Station- Water window with level marks. If you have any issues with the product, please contact our customer service team directly per the instruction manual.
- Heating elements can be controlled individually. Great for large celebrations, parties and gatherings! Also a good appliance to have for corporate kitchen offices and conference rooms.
The CucinaPro Double Coffee Brewer Station is a unique coffee machine and unlike any other machines on our list. Rather than have one module for large pots of coffee and one for single mugs, this coffee machine has two full 12-cup brewers. This means you can make up to two 12-cup pots of coffee simultaneously, making the CucinaPro the largest capacity coffee maker on this list.
If you regularly host large dinner parties, have your entire extended family over for breakfast, or own a small café, this is the coffee maker for you. Unfortunately, if you’re just looking for a dual coffee maker to use at home, you probably won’t get much mileage out of this machine, and you’re better off spending your money on a more practical setup.
Still, if you need to make more than 12-cups at a time, this is a great choice. Outside of commercial-grade machines, we think this is one of the best large-capacity coffee makers on the market. It’s affordable and excels at making large volumes of coffee, but it doesn’t have as much customizability as other machines.
Pros
- Makes up to 24 cups at once
- Comes with two 12 cup glass coffee pots
- Independently control each side
- Affordable
Cons
- Doesn’t have many features
- Unnecessary for most people

- MIX IT UP: The kitchen should be fun. With BELLA It can be. We provide you with quick & convenient kitchen solutions to simplify your hectic life, including small kitchen appliances, cookware &...
The penultimate coffee maker on our list is a compact machine from Bella. The Bella Dual Brew Single-Serve coffee maker is slightly different from the other dual coffee makers on this list. It only makes up to travel mug size brews rather than full pots, but as a tradeoff can fit neatly on almost any kitchen counter, thanks to its small footprint.
Bella’s Dual Brew is compatible with K-cups and comes with a reusable filter you can use with your favorite ground coffee. It also has a separate hot water station for making tea, hot cocoa, and instant oatmeal. We like having hot water instantly available in our kitchen and find ourselves using it more often than we originally thought we would.
Unfortunately, this dual coffee maker suffers from its low capacity. Most other dual coffee makers have at least a 10-cup brew volume, so this one stands out in an unflattering way. If you’re looking for a small, compact brewer compatible with K-cups, it’s an excellent choice. However, if you like the idea of having a single cup side and a carafe side, the Bella Dual Brew will leave you disappointed.
Pros
- Compact design fits easily anywhere
- Reusable filter included
- Hot water station is convenient
- Compatible with K-cups
Cons
- Low capacity is limiting
10. Kitchen Selectives Dual Coffee Maker
No products found.
The last dual brew coffee maker to make the list, the Kitchen Selectives dual coffee maker, is very similar to the CucinaPro we previously reviewed. Like the CucinaPro, the Kitchen Selectives differs from other two-way coffee makers by offering two 12-cup brewing stations instead of having one single-cup side and one full carafe side.
Most of the points we made about the CucinaPro apply here as well. You can control each side independently, making it great for large parties or brewing two different types of coffee at once. However, this suffers from the same problems as the CucinaPro as well. Most people won’t use both 12-cup sides enough to warrant spending money on this machine.
This two-way coffee maker is lower on the list than the nearly identical CucinaPro for one very important reason: auto-shutoff. This machine doesn’t have an auto-shutoff, which can be a fire hazard if you don’t remember to turn it off manually when you’re done making coffee.
Pros
- Affordable
- Comes with two 12 cup glass carafes
- Can simultaneously make a different type of coffee in each side
Cons
- No auto-shutoff feature
- Most people don’t need quite as high of a capacity
What Is a Dual Coffee Maker?
A dual coffee maker – sometimes called a dual brew coffee maker, two-way coffee maker, or 2-way coffee maker – is a coffee machine that combines two or more coffee maker styles into one package. Most often, two-way coffee makers combine single-serve brewers with larger, traditional 12-cup drip machines. The idea is to provide maximum flexibility and make it easy to brew one mug quickly but also offer the ability to make a large carafe when needed.
Not all dual brewers have the same philosophy. Some two-way coffee makers combine regular coffee makers with espresso machines, while others only include one coffee brewer and replace the other with a hot water station. Most dual brew coffee makers allow you to make multiple brew sizes simultaneously, making them perfect for people that live in a house full of coffee drinkers with different needs.
Some 2-way coffeemakers come with many brewing options while others are pared down and only offer a bare-bones brewing experience. Which you prefer depends on what type of coffee drinker you are and one isn’t necessarily better than another.
Why Buy a Dual Coffee Maker?
If you’re trying to decide if a dual coffee brewer is right for you, think about what type of coffee drinker you are. If you regularly make one cup at a time but occasionally need to brew large pots of coffee for guests, a dual coffee maker might be a good option for you.
One of the biggest advantages of a dual coffee maker is having the convenience and speed of K-cups when you need it and the versatility of a traditional drip machine when you want to make a large batch of coffee. Dual coffee makers are one of the rare cases in life where you can actually get the best of both worlds.
How to Choose the Best Dual Coffee Maker (Buying Guide)
It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you’re in the market for a 2-way coffee maker. Here are some tips to help you sift through the endless sea of coffee brewers and narrow in on the right dual brew coffee maker for you.
The Basics
Capacity
The most important element is how many cups of coffee you typically drink in a day. If you’re one cup in the morning type of person, make sure you look for coffee machines that come with a single-serve brewer. Most people prefer the convenience of coffee machines that are compatible with K-cup pods, but other single-serve brewers get the job done as well.
When you have company over, having a single-serve coffee maker can pose a challenge since you’ll have to run it many times to make enough cups of coffee for all of your guests. You won’t have this problem with a dual coffee maker, as long as you buy one with a large enough capacity on the carafe side. Almost all dual brewers have a carafe side that makes between 10 and 12 cups of coffee, so there aren’t many decisions.
Material
Stainless steel carafes are the most resilient and easiest to clean but tend to cost a bit more than glass carafes. We haven’t experienced any problems with glass carafes, but they are inherently more fragile than stainless steel. Which you should buy depends on your budget – and your clumsiness in the kitchen.
Size
Another aspect of buying a coffee maker that many people overlook is the size. Most dual coffee makers are large and take up a lot of counter space. If you live in a dorm or apartment and need something small, the Keurig K-Duo is a great compact option.
Advanced Options
Brewing Style
Some dual coffee makers have more brewing options than others, so if you are an up and coming barista, you might want to look for a machine that comes with advanced options. Brew strength, water temperature, and brew timers are all nice to have but unnecessary if you want a simple brewing experience.
Espresso
Another choice to make is whether you want an espresso maker instead of two regular coffee makers. Some dual coffee makers combine a regular drip coffee maker with an espresso machine instead of another coffee machine with a different brew size. These tend to be more expensive but are necessary if you want to make cappuccinos and lattes at home. Unfortunately, these machines don’t come with a live-in barista, so if you’re new to espresso, you might not get much use out of one.
Cleaning and Maintenance
No one likes cleaning their coffee gear, but few people consider maintenance and cleaning before purchasing a coffee maker. The number one feature to look for that will make maintenance and cleaning easier is a removable water reservoir. Having access to the water reservoir makes it much easier to clean and some removable water reservoirs are dishwasher safe.
Some brewers have self-cleaning modes that make regular maintenance easier and let you wait longer between deep cleanings. This isn’t necessary but makes a big difference in the long run.
Dual Coffee Makers FAQ
What’s the Best Dual Coffee Maker?
In our opinion, one of the best dual coffee makers is the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew. It has two brew sizes to choose from, makes five different styles of coffee, can even make a concentrated espresso-like coffee, and comes with a built-in frother and thermal carafe. Oh, and it’s also affordable.
If you’re on a very tight budget, the best dual coffee maker for the money is the Hamilton Beach 2-Way Brewer Coffee Maker. It has a stripped-down set of features compared to the FlexBrew but is also a fraction of the cost.
Are There Dual Coffee Makers With Grinders?
Unfortunately, no. Coffee grinders are highly specialized pieces of equipment and, therefore, standalone appliances. It’s also important that coffee grinders avoid water, so mixing a dual brew coffee maker with a coffee grinder isn’t a great idea.
Are Expensive Dual Coffee Makers Worth It?
That depends. Expensive can mean different things to different people, so it’s hard to say what constitutes an expensive coffee machine. Avid coffee lovers might be willing to spend far more money on coffee gear than more casual coffee drinkers.
That being said, some features are more beneficial than others and worth paying for, in our opinion. Some of our favorite features that we’d be willing to pay more for are stainless steel components, a thermal carafe, self-cleaning functionality, and k-cup compatibility. These aren’t essential, but having them greatly enhances our brewing experience.
How Do You Clean a Dual Coffee Maker?
Most dual coffee brewers can be cleaned the same way you would clean a single-serve brewer. Each side of a 2-way coffee maker is effectively identical to a single-serve machine, so they can be cleaned independently as needed. We like to run a brew cycle with a mixture of vinegar and water every few months to keep our coffee machines running smoothly.
Some coffee machines are self-cleaning, but these tend to be more expensive and still require input on your part, so they’re generally not worth paying extra for.
Does Keurig Make a Dual Coffee Maker?
Yes! The Keurig K-Duo is one of our favorite dual coffee makers and our pick for the best compact dual brewer.
What Is the Difference Between Keurig Duo and Duo Essentials?
They are very similar brewers, but the K-Duo Essentials is a smaller capacity brewer that only has three brew sizes to choose from rather than the K-Duo’s four brew sizes. It is also slightly cheaper.
Which Is Better: Keurig or Hamilton Beach?
It’s mostly a toss-up that comes down to personal preference. Keurig and Hamilton Beach both make high-quality coffee makers with a variety of brew sizes and brewing options to choose from. Keurig machines tend to have a higher build quality but fewer options than Hamilton Beach at the same price point. Which you prefer depends on whether you value sturdy builds or a greater number of features.
Two-Way Coffee Makers
Two-way coffee makers are a great compromise if you can’t decide whether you should buy a large capacity automatic drip coffee maker or a sleek, single-serve machine. Coffee lovers come in many shapes and sizes with a wide variety of tastes and preferences. Dual coffee makers are one of the most versatile pieces of coffee equipment you can buy and are worth the relatively higher price compared to regular coffee makers.
If you live alone but often entertain coffee drinkers or if you like making regular coffee and espresso equally well, a dual coffee maker is a panacea that solves many problems coffee drinkers face. We hope you enjoyed this guide and have a clearer picture of the world of dual coffee makers!
