The versatility is quite lovely, especially since you can still choose between 6oz and 12oz brew sizes in 2oz increments for regular coffee.
Of course, our favorite feature about this model is the attached milk frother. This single serve kcup pod coffee brewer doesn’t include any temperature control, but it does reach a high enough temperature to extract all of the flavor – and caffeine – you expect from your morning coffee.
At 96oz, the water reservoir on this Keurig coffee maker is the largest that they make. Although it may seem like nothing more than a sleek, modern design, the handle on the front of the massive water tank makes refilling very easy.
Most Keurig models are made to last, but this one feels extra durable and high-quality, and we’re confident that this will provide years of consistent, reliable coffee brewing.

It offers the option to brew 6oz, 8oz, or 10 oz, so while it can’t handle full carafes or larger travel mugs, it’s perfect for your standard coffee sizes. It has a smaller 48oz water reservoir, so it will need to be refilled more often than our previous options.
This is one of the old Keurig models that will accept any pod and not just Keurig-branded ones. As such, you’ll be able to purchase and use any pods you like with this machine without having to worry about pod rejection, even those that are made by third parties.
Although this Keurig machine has far less customization than most others, it’s built to last and feels very durable. We’re confident this will provide many cups of coffee over a long lifetime. It’s also one of the most affordable Keurig models available.
8. Keurig B145 OfficePRO Brewing System
- Choice of 3 brewing cup size options (6, 8 and 10-ounces)
- 48-ounce removable water reservoir
- Heats and brews in less than one minute
If you’re looking for a durable, no-frills Keurig coffee maker that will stand up to years of constant use, this machine is probably perfect for you.
This kcup coffee maker is built like a brick house, and you can feel how durable and high-quality it is when you lift it, and every time you close the kcup pod coffee chamber. This is made for offices, and while it will be sufficient for use at work, it’s also great if you have multiple coffee drinkers in your home or just want a long-lasting machine for personal use.
You won’t have the option for a strong brew or programmable temperatures, but you’ll still be able to choose between 6oz, 8oz, or 10 oz brew size. The water reservoir is relatively small at 48oz, so frequent refilling is required.
Our favorite thing about this machine is that it can brew back-to-back cups morning after morning without ever showing signs of slowing down. The heating and brewing time is less than a minute, whether it’s the first cup of the day or the fifth.
Although there are no options to customize your coffee, you can expect a lot of it to be brewed with the B145!
9. Keurig K250 Coffee Maker
- What's in the box: 4 k cup pods, a water filter handle + 2 water filters, and a bottle of descaling solution to help extend the life of your brewer

The Keurig K250 is another workhorse, and it can stand up to constant use. Its durability and reliability make it another great option for offices, but it’s also great for home use and will likely last for quite a long time.
This coffee maker can brew between 4oz and 10oz cups in 2oz increments, and it can also brew up to 30oz carafes using kcarafe pods. The ability to brew both single serve kcup portions and larger volumes makes it a good option for versatility, and it’s especially useful if you make coffee for just yourself in the morning but want the ability to brew for multiple people if the need arises.
The water reservoir is one of Keurig’s smallest at just 40oz, so it will require frequent refilling, especially if you choose to brew carafes. It includes a strong option for making your coffee more robust.
It brews very quickly, so you can expect your coffee to be ready in under a minute for a single serving.
10. Keurig K15 Coffee Maker

- Water resevoir: Single cup water reservoir for ultimate portability just add fresh water for each brew
- Drip tray: Removable drip tray accommodates travel mugs up to 5.2” tall, and holds a full accidental brew for easy clean up
Last on our list is the K15, the smallest of the Keurig coffee maker models. This is truly a single-serve coffee maker, as it has a water reservoir that only holds up to 10oz. It’s meant to be refilled before each use, so constant refilling is a must with this machine.
The appeal, of course, is that this is one of the smallest Keurig machines available. It takes up a minimal amount of space on your counter or desk, so it’s great for those who don’t have the luxury of a lot of room for their coffee maker.
In addition to removing the large water tank, it also ditches all the features of many of the other Keurig models. You can select a brew size of 6oz, 8oz, or 10oz, but there isn’t any customization beyond that. There is no temperature setting or strong button, so you’ll only be able to customize with the type of Keurig kcup you choose.
It has a longer brew time than most other single serve coffee makers at just under 2 minutes, and brewing cannot be scheduled. There is, however, an automatic shut off to help save energy.
If you’re all about bells and whistles, this coffee maker isn’t for you. However, it may be perfect if you drink just one cup a day and want an affordable coffee machine that takes up the least amount of space possible.
What Is Keurig?
If you’ve gotten this far in our guide, we bet you have a pretty good idea of what Keurig is, but just in case…
Keurig is a company that makes coffee machines. In fact, they revolutionized the coffee machine market and the way millions of Americans and people worldwide make their coffee every morning.
They are the company that introduced single-serve coffee makers in a big way. They piloted the coffee pod, which is a small plastic container with coffee grounds and a tiny filter inside. The pod is inserted into a Keurig machine, and less than 1 minute later – 2 minutes for some models – you have a beautiful cup of coffee.
Keurig’s single-serve coffee makers make coffee brewing simple, fast, and unbelievably convenient. There’s no mess to clean up, no pouring technique to nail down, just a simple coffee pod that gets popped in and then popped out.
Why Do You Need a Keurig Coffee Maker?
Millions of people use Keurig coffee makers for one simple reason: convenience. Keurig machines can brew a cup of coffee in record time with minimal cleanup. Some machines can be programmed to have your coffee ready for you when you wake up.
Convenience is great, but some Keurig machines also offer a good amount of control over the taste of your coffee. Some offer temperature control, and most provide brew strength options. Drip machines with similar key features are still less convenient, can’t make single servings, and are usually far more expensive.
If you haven’t had the luxury of using a Keurig, get your hands on one for a week and let us know if you’ll ever go back to any other brewing method! There are few things better than waking up in the morning, hitting one button, and almost instantly having freshly brewed coffee.
Now the only question is…which Keurig coffee maker do you buy?
How to Choose a Keurig Machine: Things to Consider
As you can see from our Keurig reviews, there are many factors that go into choosing the best Keurig coffee maker. It’s not as simple as settling on the first one you find or the cheapest one available. Whether you choose one of the Keurigs we’ve reviewed above or continue looking at others, make sure you keep the below factors in mind when deciding.
Customization
Firstly, you should think about how much you’ll be able to customize your coffee with the machine you’re considering. Tuning the taste of our coffee is the most critical feature for us because we want coffee that’s suited just for us – it makes us feel like royalty!
Most Keurig machines offer the choice of making a strong or regular cup of coffee, but some don’t. Others give you multiple strength settings and even let you save drinker profiles, so you and all your family members can each get their finely tuned cup at the press of just one button.
Some of the better models also give you multiple options for what temperature you want your coffee. This setting will change hot how your coffee is, but more importantly, it will affect how the coffee tastes. Hotter water leads to faster extraction of caffeine and flavors, so you can choose which temperature suits you best.
Cup Size
Keurig brew sizes always span the normal cup quantities, but some have more options than others. The standard 4-10oz is great for most people, but for those of us who drink a lot of coffee or drink out or larger travel mugs, the ability to make 12oz or more is preferred.
Some Keurigs allow you to brew upward of 30oz using K carafe pods. These are great machines for heavy coffee drinkers or for homes where multiple people drink coffee every day.
Before you make your purchase, give some thought to which brew sizes you’d want most. We’re sure there’s a machine that will provide what you choose is best!
Ability to Make Other Drinks
Most Keurig coffee makers make black coffee, hot chocolate, and tea, and each just requires that you use a different pod. However, some machines offer more options.
Some models come with an iced coffee option, which brews extra strong coffee that is meant to be diluted with ice. With these machines, you can enjoy hot coffee or cold, refreshing coffee in minutes.
Other machines make an espresso-like coffee and include milk frothers, giving you the ability to make mixed coffee drinks like cafe au laits, cappuccinos, or lattes. The process of creating a mixed drink is just as simple as making a black coffee!
Lastly, some machines have two brewing options for black coffee: a single-serve side that uses a pod and a drip side that uses a regular drip filter and ground coffee. These machines allow you to choose which coffee you’re in the mood for and brew accordingly.
Durability
All of the Keurig machines we’ve tried and tested feel durable enough to stand up to constant brewing over a long lifetime. However, the devices with more options naturally have more things that can go wrong.
It’s nice to have a touchscreen to choose your desired coffee, five options for temperature control, and customizable coffee profiles. However, all of these features do mean that there’s more room for error.
To be clear, we haven’t had any issues with any Keurig machines breaking down, but the models that strip down coffee brewing to the bare necessities gives us even more confidence that the coffee maker will last for years on end.
Water Reservoir Size
All Keurigs come with a water reservoir that needs to be refilled with water as they brew coffee. The smallest reservoir requires refilling after every brew, while the largest holds an impressive 96oz and can make about 12 cups of coffee before needing to be refilled.
The water reservoir size may seem unimportant, but when you’re using a machine that’s optimized for convenience and comfort, a larger reservoir will make it that much more hands-off.
Programmable
Some Keurig models are programmable, and they can be set to turn on and begin brewing at a given time of day. We absolutely love this feature, and now we’re spoiled and could never go back to a brewer that isn’t programmable.
Pressing a button and getting coffee a minute later might seem like the epitome of convenience, but Keurigs that have an auto-on feature will have your coffee ready without any input at all! If you want to wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee every morning – and let’s face it, who doesn’t? – then make sure you get a programmable Keurig.
Extras
We didn’t talk about the extras that some Keurigs include in our reviews because we wanted them to be about the machine you’ll use every day and not the bonuses you get with them at an additional cost. However, some Keurigs do come with special perks.
For example, the Keurig KElite single serve coffee maker includes some pods for you to use to try out your new machine, as well as a reusable water filter that you can use to keep your water free of minerals and chemicals.
Many of the K-300 and K-400 models include carafes for use with the machine, and the K-Mini Plus includes a storage rack for your K-cups.
Of course, none of the extras are essential, but who doesn’t like a little free gift, right?
Maintenance Alerts
All Keurig machines need to be descaled regularly, just like other drip coffee makers or single-serve coffee maker. Some Keurigs have an indicator that will let you know when it’s time to descale, which is a convenient feature that lets you enjoy your coffee worry-free.
Some machines, however, don’t have this capability. If you choose a machine with minimal features that doesn’t alert you when maintenance is needed, you’ll have to visually inspect your device or be prepared to notice varying tastes in your coffee that may indicate that it’s time to descale.
Size
Although we’ve discussed brew size and water reservoir size, we haven’t yet mentioned the actual size of the brewer! Of course, Keurig machines vary in size and how much space they take up, so choosing one that will fit in your home or office is critical.
Most machines take up a modest amount of counter or desk space, but if you have limitations on where you can put your coffee maker, you may want to opt for a smaller model.
The smallest model is the Keurig K15 Coffee Maker. You’ll exchange some convenience for size, though, as this Keurig has a one-cup water reservoir and probably won’t have the height clearance to brew into travel mugs. You’ll also be limited to 10oz cups at the most.
Noise
Lastly, you may want to consider the noise your K cup coffee maker produces. Some Keurig machines are equipped with their “silent brew” technology, which means they make almost no sound while they’re brewing.
This is another feature that isn’t critical, but if you make coffee first thing in the morning and don’t want to risk waking up your family members, a Keurig machine with the silent feature might be perfect for you.
Keurig 1.0 vs. Keurig 2.0: What’s the Difference?
The last thing we want to cover here is the difference between the Keurig 1.0 machines and the Keurig 2.0 models.
The 1.0 machines were the first to be released by Keurig. They allowed standard-sized K-cups or third party coffee pods, so as long as your pod fit, the 1.0 machine would brew your coffee.
These machines had fewer options and customization than the 2.0 machines that would come later, but most of them still featured strength options and had ranges of brew sizes.
The new Keurig machines in the 2.0 line first introduced a pod scanning device that would reject any pods that weren’t made by or endorsed specifically by Keurig. The result was that any third party pods would be rejected.
After many Keurig fans complained about this feature, Keurig removed the scanner, so new 2.0 machines will now accept third party pods again.
However, some positive changes remained! The 2.0 machines were the first to introduce other brewing options, like the K carafe pods for making carafes and the K-mug pods for brewing larger coffee quantities for travel mugs.
Which Keurig Machine is Right for You?
Given how many Keurig models are available, a lot of research and thought needs to go into choosing the best one to suit your needs. Hopefully, our reviews and buyer’s guide have helped you narrow down the many options and decide on one that will tick all of your coffee boxes!
Our top pick for performance, customization, and all-around capability is the Keurig K-Supreme Plus Coffee Maker. It offers multiple temperature and strength control and allows you to save coffee profiles to ensure you always get a coffee that is tailored just for you.
If you’re looking for the best bang for your buck and don’t mind paring back some of the capability, we strongly recommend the Keurig K-Elite Coffee Maker. This Keurig model doesn’t have temperature options, but it still makes fantastic coffee, is reliable as any other, and brews silently, all while remaining budget-friendly.
